The Who's Who

Brewchad began with two core members, John Serino & Dan Romano. In February 2009, Pat Cristiano was asked to join the project and help deliver some of the layers of Brewchad's music through guitar. While we've been doing music a long time, we're relatively new to the professional side of the industry.

John Serino

John Serino was born March 31, 1977 in Montreal. Music entered Johnʼs life at the age of 5, in the form of singing lessons. At age 12 he began to study music privately, where he stopped singing, and moved to musical theory and the guitar. Always intrigued by compostion John Serino has both written for and performed for other artists. After years of not vocalizing a single note, John was tricked by Dan Romano into singing for Brewchad.

Dan Romano

Dan Romano was born January 12, 1977 in Montreal, Canada. His musical path began at age 9 with the accordion and keyboards, eventually moving to the electric bass at age 15. Two years later, primarily self taught, his focus shifted to the 6-string fretless electric bass. At age 20, he gained acceptance into the Concordia University Department of Music, in Montreal, Canada, studying composition and electroacoustics for 5 full years.

Pat Cristiano

Pat Cristiano was born in Potenza, Italy. He came to Montreal, Canada, at the tender age of five. At age fifteen, he began his ongoing passion and devotion for the guitar. In 2001, Pat completed a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and a Minor degree in Music. In 2002, he applied and got accepted into the prestigious sanctuary of music education, Berklee College, however, he was not able to attend due to personal reasons. And so, continued his musical quest. In 2004, he reached the semifinals of the Montreal "Guitar Hero" competition and the following year, he finished 2nd in the rock category of the "Montreal Guitar Grand Prix". As of February of 2009, Pat Cristiano has been a new addition to Brewchad and is deeply excited and honored to be a part of the band, where he plans on sharing his passion and musical experience with the world over.

Nigel Hunt

From a bedroom in a sleepy village in Sussex, England, to the so-called "buzztown" Montreal in 2005, Brewchad’s new drummer, Nigel Hunt, has been all over the musical map. Learning his trade in England with several underground bands in Britain, he crossed the Atlantic and immediately made contact with Montreal’s 90's Brit-Pop band, The Bitter Saints.

After 3 years with that band he started to diversify and began to moonlight with Montreal Chom L'Esprit winners, Hol'fader. While drumming for the band and co-writing, he began experimenting with samplers and computer-assisted music building, working on several projects including The High Kings.

After just recently returning from a European tour with another Montreal outfit, the Peaks, he finally found Brewchad. The initial sessions were very positive and an immediate chemistry with the guys was formed. This positive energy was immediately channeled into several great new songs, with a blend of superb North American Rock and Brit-Pop sensibility. This future partnership looks set to bear wonderful fruits.

The What's What

Brewchad is an original music project, presently with one album under its arm. The music is undeniably rock in style. In case you're wondering, the name Brewchad is derived from the Italian word "bruciato". Bruciato translates to burnt or burned. Some italian dialects shorten the word by dropping the O in pronounciation, giving us bruciat. We rewrote bruciat by sounding it out in English, emphasizing the end a little.

The Where's Where

In short, we're based in Montreal, Canada. Born and raised... mostly.

The When's When

We started playing and writing together in late 2004. Shades of Grey was the first song we wrote, taking nearly nine (9) months to complete. Despite how long that first song took, we were able to find our sound, our approach, and as usual, a little bit of ourselves. This project took its final form in March of 2006, where we began writing diligently, completing eleven more songs in about the same time it took us to write Shades of Grey.

But WHY?

We had to. Not having given music a true 100% effort was slowly eating at us. This project relieved that internal pressure.
